1652 Country - Pilgrimage Development Weekend

Print PDF

1652 was an historic year in the birth of Quakerism. Paul Mobbs assisted with the Walk for Peace in May 2011, guiding Margaret Johnston of Bolton Meeting in the footsteps of John Woolman across our area from Helmdon to Evesham. When, after walking 350 miles, Margaret injured herself in June Paul completed the last 110 miles of the walk from Dent to York. Given his participation in this walk, and his previous experience with long distance walking, he was invited to attend a weekend event at Swarthmoor to discuss the development of “Quaker pilgrimages”, and the proposals to support groups travelling to '1652 Country'.

You can download Paul's full report on the event here.
